The rock where the village stands is 54m high. It is a millenary crag, nestled in and into the blue of the Mediterranean. At the top is its unique castle, built by the Templars in the thirteenth century. This castle was converted into a papal residence (1411-1423), thanks to Benedict XIII, also known as Pope Luna.
Peñíscola, is loaded of rich history, for the same one they have passed practically all the western civilizations and still today, it preserves all his ancestral flavor.
